The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) states its mission to conserve, improve, and protect New York State's natural resources and environment, and control water, land and air pollution, in order to enhance the health, safety and welfare of the people of the state and their overall economic and social well being. Published a monthly newsletter titled "Environment DEC” covering information about New York State's environmental issues. Its nine regional offices provide assistance to all New Yorkers from Long Island to Buffalo, NY.
